ON THE ISSUES

OUR COMMUNITIES

ENGAGED

The power to choose who governs is one an essential right Americans share. Broad political participation ensures that all our rights and freedoms will be preserved.

LIVEABLE

The state of Colorado needs to be a better partner in working to engage in effective local and regional planning for smart growth that will help reduce traffic and make our communities more livable in the coming years.

SMART

Every child deserves a high-quality school in their neighborhood. Education is the cornerstone of a just society, ut lifts families out of poverty; it keeps people out of jails and prisons; it helps strengthen our local economy and attract jobs.

SAFE

We must focus more of our state funding into prevention services that have a greater impact on reducing criminal behavior instead of funding private prisons.

SHARED

While we have seen some recent successes, the path to equality for all has not always been quick—nor has it been easy.  Though Colorado has made tremendous progress in this area, more work remains to be done.

RESILIENT

As senior policy advisor on Human Services, I learned first hand the impact that our state-funded safety net programs have on families across Colorado. The state must ensure that the most vulnerable of us can break the cycle of poverty.

THRIVING

For many, quality of life is improving and opportunities are growing. But many of our neighbors and small businesses continue to face challenges.

HEALTHY

Colorado is often called the healthiest state in America but this doesn’t mean we don’t have challenges to overcome. We need a comprehensive health perspective that encompasses everyone from childhood to senior health care.
